TMX eXtra Special Edition

TMX eXtra Special Edition

5.0 out of 5 stars Again! Again!, February 4, 2008
By K. Roulette (Charlotte, NC USA)
Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars

I bought this toy for my son's first Christmas. He was far to young (7.5 months) to push the right spots on command and figure out Elmo's special tricks, HOWEVER... he really loves this toy! He smiles and laughs at it...he has learned to crawl towards it... sometimes he does hit the right spot and is so proud when Elmo giggles! I do wish the body was a bit more padded, however the animation built into this toy is amazing! This toy is also on the LOUD side... we have to play it in a spacious room, it scared my son in his crib or a small room. A volume control would be a nice addition.

Overall, my whole family enjoys this TMX eXtra Special Edition Elmo! We play with him several times a week!

Fisher-Price T.M.X. Tickle Me Extreme Cookie Monster Reviews

Fisher-Price T.M.X. Tickle Me Extreme Cookie Monster

3.0 out of 5 stars Solid laughs, some flaws and clunky construction. NOT a plush toy!, December 8, 2007
By Owen C. Warf "Liquid Identity" (Pennsylvania, USA)
Durability:3.0 out of 5 stars Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars

TMX Cookie Monster will make you laugh. His motions and voice should give almost anyone the giggles. He has two actions, one short and one long, both triggered by simply touching his tummy. The short action is a few laughs accompanied by some shaking. It's hardly impressive. The second response is what TMX Cookie Monster is all about:

Cookie Monster begins to laugh. He shakes and then falls over backwards. He sits back up and tries to control his laughter. He gets a second bout of laughter, rolls over onto one side and chuckles and kicks his legs. He then rolls onto his back, has a few more laughs, rolls onto his other side, then rolls to his back, and in a very funny effort, sits up after a few tries. He then stands and the motion ends.

When it works properly, it is adorable and people love it. The problem is that it doesn't always work as intended. Sometimes when he intends to sit up, the motion is so powerful that he tips over onto his face. From this point on, none of the motions follow the proper audio cues. If he does manage to sit properly, the other issue I encountered was when he's on his right side and tries to roll onto his back. One leg kicks back quickly and the momentum (as well as a balance peg in his back) is supposed to roll him over. Often this fails as the motion isn't adequate. These problems occur even on completely flat, hard surfaces as instructed. Of small help is a balance-sensing mechanism: Cookie Monster knows how he is positioned and will make several attempts to stand upright before stopping all motions. It is reasonably successful at this.

The toy is surprisingly heavy. The feet are very hard and contain the 6 batteries necessary. The motors I assume are in the legs/hips. The arms do not move. In sharp contrast, the body and arms of the toy feels like a pillowcase strung over a broomstick. The blue covering material hangs loose all over and you can feel the rounded arm pegs and one very long peg off-center in his back. Falling on this peg could be very painful, and there is no cushion material inside the toy's body at all. The head is the only part that seems to have solid stuffing.

This toy is meant to be watched and laughed at. It is too heavy and hard to be handled like a stuffed animal.

Finally, the eyes do not move. This was a little bit of a disappointment to me, as Cookie Monster is known for his googlie eyes.

With only one worthwhile motion (the two alternate equally), some problems with that motion, and the seriously non-plush nature of the toy, I don't know how much I could recommend this for a child's play toy.

Fisher-Price Sesame Street Up, Up Elmo Reviews

Fisher-Price Sesame Street Up, Up Elmo

5.0 out of 5 stars See him on the store shelf? Up up and into the cart, March 29, 2007
By Jennifer N. Johnson

We bought our son this at age 28 months. He'd never had a lovey or a blankie or a pacifier or any other of those typical comfort things. Weird, huh?? We thought so too. But as soon as this Elmo was out of the box... he became a part of the family. He ever wants him in the bath. Easy on batteries and a truly adorable toy. It has sensors or something so it actually interacts w/ the child... seems like Elmo is literally talking right to you. Reasonably priced and well worth it

Amazon Customer Reviews : Fisher-Price T.M.X. Tickle Me Elmo#3

Fisher-Price T.M.X. Tickle Me Elmo

I actually don't have this Elmo yet, but I did pre-order it (it should arrive on Thursday). I actually bought it for my 21 month old daughter for her birthday in December, but I don't think I can wait that long. I will give it to her this weekend. I will update my review then to tell you how she reacted.

Now for the reason I wrote the review. I just watched a video clip from the Good Morning America website [...]. It was deputed today on the show!! The link for the video clip is listed under "Hot Topics".

After the first "ticke", Elmo starts to slap is knee and falls to the floor giggling. He then stands back up and asks for more. After the second "tickle", Elmo starts to slap is knee again falls to the floor and starts to kick his feet. All while laughing hysterically. Then again he stands back up and begs for more. After the third and final "tickle", Elmo starts to slap his knee, falls to the floor again, rolls to his side, kicks his feet then turns over and starts to slap the floor. LOL! All while laughing hysterically!! He then stands up again so you can start it all over again! He has such an infectious laugh! I am still giggling!

Elmo supposedly has three tickle points as listed in the description. One under his chin, his belly and one on the top of his foot. He also seems to be very hard and stiff, so I'm pretty sure I won't let my daughter sleep with him at night as I'm sure she would want to. Although, I know (well at least I hope) that my daughter will just love him, I also know that he will probably get on my nerves. LOL! Hey, its all in fun right?

Update:

So we received our Elmo actually on Wednesday. I gave it to my daughter on Saturday morning (the same day I took her pacifier away, I thought this would be a great distraction). Anywho, unfortunately, my daughter is a little afraid of Elmo. The first time we turned him on, she ran away from him. After a little while (and after we turned him off), she gave Elmo a big hug and a kiss. She is very happy that she has her very own Elmo, but she would much prefer that he just did nothing (or say his "La La La La" song LOL!).

On the other hand, Elmo was a GREAT hit this weekend with Dad, Auntie and the grandparents. They all just love him. So did I. My daughter's aunt (in her early 20s) loved him most of all. She thought he was the coolest thing out!

Soo, if I could rate Elmo again, I would give him 4 stars. While my daughter loves the fact that she has an Elmo, she doesn't really like the fact that he rolls on the floor, etc. But the ADULTS all love him. I will probably be looking for plush Elmo doll for her birthday in December.

Amazon Customer Reviews : Fisher-Price T.M.X. Tickle Me Elmo#2

Fisher-Price Elmo Live

The first tickle puts Elmo in the floor rolling around and laughing...the second tickle and Elmo laughs harder and longer...the third tickle and Elmo literally rolls around the floor before finally landing on his belly pounding on the floor with this hand, begging you to stop. After each tickle, Elmo resumes his upright standing position."

Amazon Customer Reviews : Fisher-Price T.M.X. Tickle Me Elmo

Fisher-Price Elmo Live

TMX Elmo has a laugh that will make you laugh even if you don't want to. He keeps asking you to do it "Again, again" when you tickle him.. and when you tickle him again he screams with glee "You've done it again" and then starts rolling on the floor. It's hard not to laugh even if you know what it will do next. I bought it for work and I think it will be great to bring it out during those workshops when everyone works all day on presentations. It would be fun to offer to tickle the Elmo as a "prize" for a cool idea...the better the idea, the more you can tickle Elmo. Should bring back some fun to brainstorming! The only problem with this Elmo is that it does shed a little. Don't bring it near your winter white coat and you'll be ok!
